Brent Miller Biography

Songwriting is what sets Brent Miller apart from most modern day worship leaders. "I think a lot of songwriters write songs that tell their own stories," he explains, "I try to write corporate worship songs that everyone will be able to sing." His philosophy? "If the congregation can sing it, then I've done my job."

A guitar player since the age of twelve, Brent's played in plenty of worship and rock bands. He got his first chance to play for a worship band at sixteen and, by seventeen, he was touring Western Canada. He's led and played in various worship bands since but didn't expect that God would call him to do it for a living. A few years ago Brent was offered a position leading worship at Coquitlam Alliance Church in Vancouver, BC. God called, he answered, and Brent has since written many songs that the congregation now enjoys every week.

His debut album Offering for You features eight of those songs. "It's like a light bulb went off in my head. If my church of eleven hundred enjoys these songs, then maybe churches across North America will too!" says Brent. And so, the recording of Offering for You became a priority.

photoSo why did he light a guitar on fire for the album pictures? In the Old Testament you would give your best as a burnt offering to God. Brent wanted to burn a guitar as a symbol of giving his music up to God. In the pre-chorus of the song "Offering for You", Brent sings "And I will give myself to You, as an offering for You." Brent has certainly captured that in both his music and his heart for God.
